How to store your wedding gown. First things first, when you buy your gown check the tags to make sure that your gown can be cleaned later. Not all trim is cleanable. You may want to keep your gown as a keepsake or for a future daughter. After the wedding your gown should be cleaned by a professional cleaner. Though it may look clean there may be invisible stains from food , drink or body oils. Point out any stains to your cleaner that you know of. Your clean gown should be stored on a padded hanger which is covered with acid free fabric. Use gloves to handle your gown to prevent body oils on the fabric. Stuff the bodice with acid free tissue paper which is available at craft stores. Finally place your gown in an acid free unbleached muslin bag and hang it in an uncrowded dry location. Unfortunately no process or storage method can guarantee against yellowing or possible deterioration of fabric. These steps give you your best chance of saving your gown for the future. You will find padded hangers and unbleached muslin bags in our Wedding accessories section.
